Robertson recently talked with People about how she can relate to what the Duggars are going through. The reality TV clan recently announced that Josh was entering a long-term treatment facility following news of his extramarital affairs and addiction to porn.

“If they can forgive him, it will all work out,” Robertson tells People regarding the Duggar family.

The Duck Dynasty family has also been through their fair share of controversy.

“They almost canceled Duck Dynasty whenever my grandpa said the things that he said, and that would have been, in my opinion, not a very good decision, because that was putting one man’s words in all of our mouths,” Robertson explained.

Which is exactly what she feels happened with the Duggars.

“Josh Duggar, that’s not his whole family,” Robertson added. “His whole family didn’t do that. He made a mistake.”

Robertson continued, “It honestly makes me really sad that they’re having to go through this, because it’s one thing to go through it as a family, and it would be just as hard for them if they weren’t in the limelight. Everybody’s talking about it, and that just adds that many more comments, that many more opinions. We’ve been there, it’s hard.”

At the beginning of this summer, Robertson’s Uncle Jep commented on being molested as a child.

“I was 6, and it was on a school bus, and it was an older girl,” Jep revealed to Entertainment Tonight. “Back then, the high school students would ride on the same bus as the grade school. There was an older girl that was just real mean. I think… that she was just terribly abused herself. But yeah, it was a lot of things that took place — scary stuff. It was tough.”

It’s because of these things that Robertson can relate to what the Duggars are dealing with, and it actually puts the scandal in perspective.

“It’s been kind of a secret for a long time, and everybody knows, when secrets come out, it’s not fun. Secrets are hard. You shouldn’t keep secrets. At this point it is what it is, and so they’re just going to have to make the best out of it.”
