Rebel Wilson draws backlash for police brutality jokes at MTV VMAs

Rebel Wilson is usually drumming up attention for her hilarious, in-your-face jokes.

But her skit at the 2015 MTV VMAs missed the mark in a big, big way. Wilson took the stage to present Best Hip-Hop Video dressed as a cop.

She then proceeded to confuse and offend, well… just about everyone. She stripped off her costume to reveal a t-shirt that read F*** Tha Stripper Police. All of this before handing over the Moon Man to Nicki Minaj.

And people are not happy.

Some people think that Wilson might have been dealt a hand she didn’t understand, since she’s an Aussie.

If MTV and Rebel Wilson need a few (just a few) reasons why it is not funny to make light of police brutality or people being killed (not just by the police but by anyone for that matter), here are a few: Michael Brown, Eric Garner, Tamir Rice, Walter Scott, and Freddie Gray.

I could go on, but I think you understand why this just plain isn’t funny. And I don’t think you need to be from America to realize that.
