RHONJ‘s Joe Giudice is going to regret his recent behavior when he’s in jail

Joe Giudice hasn’t ever really been considered a pillar of society, but his latest antics are really leaving a bad taste in people’s mouths. According to numerous reports, the father of four is spending his final days as a free man drinking at a steakhouse instead of focusing on his daughters.

Sources have told OK! magazine — which, yes, ought to be taken with a grain of salt — that Giudice has taken to drowning his sorrows before heading off to prison for 18 months. Apparently, it’s more of a priority than getting as much time in with his daughters as possible. An insider revealed, “Joe knows he’s going to jail in a matter of months, so drowning his sorrows is more important to him than his daughters.” The reality star evidently has been hanging out at Rails Steakhouse in Towaco, New Jersey, for hours at a time. The source also said that his wife, Teresa, who’s currently serving her sentence, was nervous about leaving him with their four girls — and with good reason. “Joe is a completely unfit parent,” a source said. “There was a good reason Teresa was so worried about leaving him in charge.”

It’s been revealed that Teresa’s parents — as well as her brother, Joe Gorga, and sister-in-law, Melissa — have all been pitching in with helping take care of the girls. While it’s good to know that the children haven’t completely been left to their own devices, what the hell is Joe thinking? It’s hard to think of a more selfish thing for him to do right now. If this is true, clearly, being charged hasn’t taught him anything. Hopefully, that won’t be the case when he’s actually serving the time.

If this is how Joe is choosing to spend the last few months he has with his family before not seeing them for a year and a half, he’s essentially the architect of his own demise. Once he gets to prison — a place he won’t be able to “drown his sorrows” — he’s in for a rude awakening. He’s going to have lots and lots (and lots) of time to think about how he spent his final days with his four young kids. If I were a betting woman, I’d say he’s not going to be pleased with himself after thinking about his behavior while alone in his cell — if he has a conscience, of course, which the jury’s still out on. This will be the worst punishment of all.

As far as the Giudices and their prison sentences go, I’m not gonna lie: My hopes aren’t super high in terms of them being learning experiences. That said, though, I think Teresa has more of a shot at learning something after being separated from her kids for so long. You would think that Joe’s wife being in jail right now would be a lesson of some sort for him — evidently not.

I’m sure the Giudice girls are looking forward to having their mother back after she’s released from jail. Teresa certainly isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but one thing you can’t say about her is that she isn’t there for her kids. And, right now, it seems like that’s more than can be said for Joe.
