No prenup means Giada De Laurentiis is losing big in her divorce

Giada De Laurentiis was the breadwinner in her marriage, which means she’s losing a huge chunk of her empire in her divorce to Todd Thompson.

According to TMZ, the divorce has been finalized and the money has been divided. Thompson and De Laurentiis didn’t have a prenup, which means that he gets a huge chunk of her profits as a celebrity chef on The Food Network. Not to mention the cookbooks.

Court documents reveal that Thompson, who is a designer for Anthropologie, will get $9,000 a month in child support. The two have a 7-year-old daughter together and will share joint custody.

Thompson not only gets child support, but he also gets to keep the $3.2 million home the two shared in Pacific Palisades, $300,000 worth of art and furniture and his membership to the Bel-Air Bay Club.

De Laurentiis will keep all the rights to her in-development cookbook as well as all the rights to her production company Linguine Productions and GDL Foods, Inc. But she owes Thompson 50 percent of unpaid advances to her various cookbooks, TMZ reports. This includes her previously published Giada at Home and Weeknights with Giada, which have a $2.5 million balance, also according to the outlet.

Still, the couple seems to have separated amicably, despite the hefty cost to De Laurentiis.

When De Laurentiis announced the split on her website back in December, she noted, “Although our decision to separate comes with a great deal of sadness, our focus on the future and overwhelming desire for our family’s happiness has given us the strength to move forward on separate, yet always connected paths.”

The couple was married for 11 years.

And though the two have kept their private life as private as possible, it hasn’t come without its fair share of rumors, including one pesky one that De Laurentiis is now in a relationship with fellow Food Network celebrity chef Bobby Flay.

Do you think De Laurentiis’ divorce is as amicable as it appears?
