The Real Housewives of Melbourne is welcoming a new cast member: Susie McLean

Season 3 of The Real Housewives of Melbourne is about to get a lot more exciting, thanks to new cast member Susie McLean.

The Melbourne socialite has officially signed on as part of Season 3’s cast and will appear alongside Gina Liano, Jackie Gillies, Janet Roach, Lydia Schiavello, Chyka Keebaugh, Gamble Breaux and Pettifleur Berenger, Arena TV reports.

Arena TV’s announcement describes McLean as “a country girl turned Toorak housewife”, adding that she “exudes elegance and embodies the traditional values and good manners of her rural upbringing”.

She is also well-known on the social scene and has “been a fixture of Melbourne society for decades”, as well as president of the Country Women’s Association’s Toorak branch. In her downtime, McLean likes to get out her baking gloves and cooking utensils (as is clearly evidenced by her Instagram account).

And she keeps in shape thanks to her “natural love” of sport — water sport is clearly a favourite.

According to the Herald Sun, McLean was previously married to former St Kilda Football Club president Roderick “Rod” Butterss (the pair was only married for six months in 2009). But she is now a single mother to two teenage sons and she has no game plan for her time on the show.

“I’m just winging it and I’ll see what happens and where it takes me,” McLean said, according to the publication. “I’m loving that feeling of doing this. It’s like a freefalling thing. I could end up on my ass as the laughing stock of Melbourne. So be it.”

Luckily for McLean, she is not going into the show as a complete stranger, because she reportedly knows fellow Real Housewives stars Liano and Schiavello.

“I know the girls so well and just spending time with them is really fun,” she said, reports the Herald Sun. “It’s just so surreal. Naturally there’s a bit of tension, probably more history, when you know girls for a long time.”

Filming for The Real Housewives of Melbourne has reportedly started and we’re already pretty sure that this is one season we don’t want to miss.
