Kim Richards has finally received her sentence from charges stemming back to an incident in April, but many fans seem to believe that the punishment is unfitting of the crime.
The former TheReal Housewives of Beverly Hills star pleaded no contest to one misdemeanor count of resisting arrest and was handed three years of summary probation, 30 days of community labor and 52 Alcoholics Anonymous meetings in court on Monday, according to Us magazine.
The sentence doesn’t seem completely inappropriate considering the misdemeanor plea; however, Richards’ fans seem concerned that the judge went too lightly on the reality star, which may cause her to gloss over the gravity of her substance abuse situation, especially in light of TMZ‘s recent report that Richards has desperately been trying to purchase prescription Xanax from a Los Angeles-area smoke shop.

“She’s been pictured at a smoke shop three times in the past week allegedly trying to buy Xanax. This woman has a serious problem and some jail time would most likely be the most beneficial,” wrote one Us commenter, to which another reader replied, “Should have been inpatient treatment. She will never complete treatment or be out of trouble.”
More commenters echoed the same sentiments.
Richards was arrested on April 15 at the Beverly Hills Hotel’s Polo Club after refusing to leave the hotel and making a huge, drunken scene. Police were called and Richards, who reportedly reeked of alcohol, had to be dragged out of the bathroom by authorities. When they finally got her to jail, she kicked an officer. At the time, she was charged with public intoxication, trespassing, resisting an officer and battery on a police officer.
Richards landed in rehab after allegedly causing a huge scene at her daughter’s wedding in May, but checked herself out abruptly in July because she thought she was cured.
She was arrested again in early August after she was apprehended in a Los Angeles-area Target for allegedly shoplifting more than $600 worth of items from the store.
