Brandi Glanville claims reality shows are as bad as abusive boyfriends

If you’re a Real Housewives of Beverly Hills fan, you know that Brandi Glanville won’t be returning for the upcoming season. Up until a few weeks ago, we weren’t sure exactly what had happened between Glanville and Bravo, but in a recent interview, the (former) reality star admitted that she wasn’t asked back to the show. And she’s glad. Because in her opinion, it was “like an abusive boyfriend.”

While sitting down with Entertainment Tonight — and while enjoying a few glasses of her Unfiltered Blonde Chardonnay — Glanville confessed to a few things. One is that she only ever did the show for the money, and two being that she thinks all of the RHOBH ladies are really just “fame whores.” Ouch!

Before we get deep into it, it’s worth mentioning that a few weeks ago on Howard Stern’s show, Glanville revealed that if she had returned to Real Housewives, she would have made a whopping $500,000. “I can show you my contract!” she said in her ET interview, sticking to her guns. However, even though the fact that Glanville was going to be paid half a million dollars for arguing with grown women on TV is absurd, that’s not the most scandalous tidbit from her interview.

Always one to speak her mind, Glanville made no effort to hide the fact that she pretty much can’t stand anyone on the RHOBH cast. She didn’t specifically name names, but she did say that, save for herself, all of the women on the show were desperately seeking fame. “Well, if you think about the women who are on the show,” Glanville said, “They’re all rich already… the only thing that you can’t buy is fame. Ultimately, I think they signed up because they all lust for this fame drug.” Glanville then went on to say that her reason for getting behind the camera was to make a buck. “[Bravo] said to me, ‘We think if you sign up [again], you’ll just be doing it for the money,” she said. “And that’s the only reason I ever did it, was for the money!” Glanville also added, not surprisingly, that she’s feeling much better these days. “Honestly, I’m happier,” she said. “I feel like I broke up with an abusive boyfriend. Like, ‘Oh my God, I love you, but you’re horrible for me.'”

While I respect Glanville’s admission that she did the show for cash — and while I do believe that she is happier living her life off-camera — there is one little thing that we need to discuss: the fact that she’s probably going to back on RHOBH part-time à la Camille Grammer or LuAnn de Lesseps last season. Glanville definitely won’t have nearly as much drama in her life, but she still will be kind of “in it.” She’s not totally away from this abusive boyfriend, so to speak. Also, if she’s not getting that insane paycheck — which she’s not if she only has a small role — then why is she doing it? Glanville seems to have tons of stuff going on right now — she’s an author and a vintner. Is whatever cash she’s getting really worth it?

Any reduced amount of time on Real Housewives seems like it would definitely be a good thing for Glanville. She was way too caught up in the drama, and it seemed to really take a toll on her. That said, the really smart thing for her to do would be to just stay off the show completely.

Also, there’s the issue of her more or less calling the other women on the show “fame whores.” Nothing seems to stay a secret in the world of the Real Housewives, so clearly, this comment is going to get back to them — and while it bodes well for drama-loving viewers, it doesn’t bode well for Glanville. Things could get ugly in her cameos.

Guess we’ll all just have to wait to see what happens next season on RHOBH. If I had to make a wager, though, I’d guess it’s not going to be all sunshine and Vanderpump garden roses for Glanville.

Do you think Brandi Glanville should just stay off of the show completely?
