Kim Zolciak got a disaster of a score from the judges during the Dancing With the Stars premiere last night. But even that didn’t hurt her confidence.

In an interview following her performance with E! News, Zolciak explained, “I’m really proud of me, even though they don’t think I did great, in my mind I did great.”
And honestly, for her first performance, it wasn’t that bad. The judges seemed to be on a harsh streak last night. They also gave four other couples super-low scores. Chaka Khan earned 13 out of 30 while Victor Espinoza, Paula Deen and Gary Busey all received a 15 out of 30.
But Zolciak’s was the lowest. She received a measly 12 out of 30.

“It’s a lot to take in,” Zolciak said of the whole experience. “I think that yes, I get the dance, but letting go is a very hard thing to do for somebody who is in such control… it’s something I need to work on. I’ll work on it until I win.”
She really does have the potential to be this season’s comeback story. Especially given that the Internet just loves to hate on her.
Her reality TV show Don’t Be Tardy hasn’t been enough to make everyone fall in love with her, but Dancing With the Stars could be the trick. For her reality show, it’s all in Zolciak’s comfort zone. She’s with her family and friends in her home.

Even Zolciak recognized, “This [DWTS] is a big step for me.”
Hopefully, it won’t be her only step, and she’ll stick around on the show for at least a little longer.

The second part of the DWTS Season 21 premiere airs tonight at 8/7c on ABC.
