Lady Gaga is taking on the rape epidemic in her song “Til It Happens to You,” and it’s so much more than a simple music video.

In the video, Gaga tackles sexual assault on college campuses with the help of actresses Nikki Reed (Twilight, Thirteen) and Kiersey Clemons (Transparent, Eye Candy), as well as director Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight).
Gaga has also teamed up with Oscar-winning songwriter Diane Warren for the public service announcement-style music video that is tied to the documentary The Hunting Ground, which is about rape on college campuses. It will cover not only the devastating effects these crimes have, but also the institutional cover-ups of these crimes and the victims who are fighting back.
The black-and-white video showcases different scenarios of disturbing scenes of sexual assault and how it affects the victims involved. It is moving to say the least.

But the video isn’t without its hope. It’s also very empowering as friends and family link arm and arm with victims, marching out of dorm rooms at the end and into the light of what we can assume is awareness.

Check out the music video below. And send it to the ladies you know. I absolutely sent it to my two little sisters who are both in college. It’s tough to watch but worth the awareness.
WARNING: It contains graphic and sensitive situations that viewers should consider before watching.
The Hunting Ground was released in February 2015.
A portion of all proceeds from the music video will go to organizations that help survivors of sexual assault.
If you or someone you know needs help, call the sexual assault hotline at 1-800-656-HOPE.
