Kim Zolciak’s recent stroke will likely impact her DWTS future (PHOTO)

Kim Zolciak‘s Dancing with the Stars stress might have led to some serious (and scary!) health problems — and it’s making her fans concerned.

Zolciak was catching a flight home to Atlanta early Wednesday morning when she had a ministroke that left her temporarily paralyzed and unable to speak, TMZ reports.

Zolciak took to Instagram to explain, “The left side of my body went completely numb and my speech was gone.”

Eek!

The ministroke is called a TIA and can be caused by a number of factors, according to SheKnows Expert Dr. Shilpi Agarwal, M.D. “When an individual suffers from a TIA, sometimes called a ‘ministroke,’ it can be due to a number of factors. Commonly these are things like elevated blood pressure, smoking, high cholesterol or blood clots.”

Zolciak credits her family, particularly her husband Kroy Biermann and her daughter Brielle Biermann, for their quick reactions. She said the stroke happened minutes after she got to her home.

Luckily, Zolciak said she has since regained 100 percent of the feeling back and, though she is still in the hospital, said, “I just know I’m getting released today.”

And while it’s unclear exactly what caused the stroke, Zolciak did say during Dancing with the Stars that she had just had Botox on Monday before the show. That, coupled with the stress the show puts on contestants to perform, might have been enough to cause her body’s reaction.

Though her health obviously comes first, the other downside to Zolciak’s ministroke is that it takes her away from valuable dancing time. In her few short weeks on the show, she’s discovered just how difficult and demanding dancing can be. And she’s dedicated herself tirelessly to bettering her skills.

After this hospital stay and necessary recovery time, it’s unclear how it will affect her moves on the dance floor in the coming episodes. But there’s no doubt she’s losing a valuable edge by not being able to practice.

But how quickly can she bounce back? Agarwal highly suggests Zolciak focus on her health.

“In Kim’s case, suffering a TIA makes her up to 10 times more likely to suffer an actual stroke than an otherwise healthy individual. She should definitely be cautious of overexhausting herself and doing any activities that could affect her blood pressure or stress level. She reported numbness and loss of speech, which are hallmark signs of TIAs and strokes, but TIAs are only temporary. Unfortunately, strokes are not, so she needs to be extremely focused on her health right now.”

Hopefully, she can swing back from this and really take care of herself.

She is, of course, far from the only star who has suffered a health-related problem over the course of the season. Alfonso Ribeiro hurt his back during his season and still managed to walk away with the mirror ball trophy.

Get well soon, Kim! We’re all rooting for you.
