Ghostbusters director goes on rant aimed at misogynistic movie haters

Paul Feig isn’t interested in hearing your Ghostbusters remake hate, especially when you are speaking ill of the ladies.

The Bridesmaids and Spy director is taking the lead in the announced all-female Ghostbusters remake and has apparently been taking a lot of heat from displeased fans. Enough so that he’s had it, and he’s firing back at disrespectful tweeters.

The cast lineup will feature Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig in the leads along with SNL ladies Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon rounding out the group. Chris Hemsworth and Ghostbusters alumni Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and Bill Murray are also set to have supporting roles in the remake.

But just because the original Ghostbusters are on board with the film doesn’t mean fans are. In fact, it seems Feig has been getting so much mean-spirited criticism that he isn’t going to ignore it anymore.

Feig’s tweets aren’t just the result of an upset director, though. They’re the result of an upset human who has seen the hate his actors — who happen to be real women, by the way — have received. Given all the rudeness he’s been fielding from people who, as Feig says, have no idea what they’re talking about, it’s clear why he’s had enough.

And we’re right there with him.

Why not give the film a chance before making judgements?

Yes, the original is a classic. And, yes, Feig’s rendition will be different, but that doesn’t mean it can’t also bring something fresh, meaningful and fun to the cinematic world.

Oh, and if you hate against the fact that there are females in the lead, then you deserve all the hate the Internet can throw at you. Welcome to new-age feminism.

Do you think Feig did the right thing by firing back at haters?
