Throughout Dancing with the Stars‘ TV night, some fans voted for their favorite pairings for next week’s Switch Up night, while others dreaded it. Meanwhile, one contestant found out they wouldn’t be returning.
TV night on Dancing with the Stars was fun, but much of the talk on social media surrounded next week’s Switch Up night, which fans seem to either love or hate. Among the most popular fantasy pairings were Derek Hough and Tamar Braxton, and Mark Ballas and Bindi Irwin. Many voters also seemed to want to see young Vine star Hayes Grier with a new blonde — either Witney Carson or Lindsay Arnold. One fan had an interesting twist on the traditional switches and suggested two males dance together.

Other DWTS fans were dreading seeing their favorites split up and losing their “partner” momentum.
@DancingABC I'm not a fan of the switch up week. Please no switch up week! #DWTS

Sad news
In heartbreaking Dancing with the Stars news this week, Kim Zolciak was informed via satellite that due to her health crisis related to the mini-stroke she had following last week’s performance, she would be forced to withdraw from the competition, as per the rules.
Zolciak’s partner, Tony Dovolani, was disappointed, but agreed that her family and health definitely come first.

Shipwrecked
Paula Deen found herself on a bit of sinking ship this week as her Gilligan’s Island-themed samba with partner Louis Van Amstel saw her marooned at the bottom of the leaderboard. Deen also found herself in jeopardy when it came time for elimination, although she was saved from possibly going home by Kim Zolciak’s exit.

Also up for elimination tonight were Andy Grammer and Allison Holker, who finished third-last on the leaderboard, just above Deen and Gary Busey, who once again entertained everyone, this time with a tango.
New leaders
Topping the Dancing with the Stars leaderboard were Backstreet Boy Nick Carter and his partner, Sharna Burgess, who did an elegant and powerful Viennese waltz for their Downton Abbey theme that judge Julianne Hough called the best dance of the night. It tied in scoring with the edgy jazz routine performed by Mark Ballas and Alexa PenaVega, who took their Breaking Bad theme all the way with hazmat suits and gas masks.
