Candace Cameron Bure made a poorly worded comparison between cyberbullying and rape on The View today — and viewers are harshly calling her to task for it.
The Fuller House star made the comments during a segment when the group was discussing Lena Dunham giving up her Twitter account to a PR rep due to the extreme cyberbullying she has received. Bure’s take on the situation came across as extremely misguided.

“I’ve never been more verbally abused in my life than on Twitter, and specifically in the last few months, having come on this show,” she said. “A lot of people don’t agree with me. That’s fine, don’t agree with me. But you don’t have to verbally abuse me and rape me.
“That’s what they do to me on Twitter,” she added.
Viewers were quick to point out that Bure’s comments were insensitive at best and extremely damaging and belittling at worst.

But did Bure really mean what everyone thinks she did? If so, it’s really quite terrible. But her wording definitely leaves it up for interpretation — she could have meant that she receives rape threats herself.
Unfortunately, we won’t know for sure unless Bure comments on the situation — and so far she’s staying mum.
