One Girls Next Door star does not have the same reaction to spiders as most women we know, judging from her eccentric choice of engagement ring.
Marquardt dropped some wonderful news on fans today: She and longtime beau Nicholas Carpenter are engaged! While it’s no surprise that the couple, who’ve been dating since 2008, decided to make it official, what is surprising is her choice of ring.

The black-widow-shaped ring is covered in pavé diamonds and set in what looks to be either platinum or white gold, and it certainly is an unusual choice, but maybe not so weird for the self-proclaimed “Queen of Halloween.”
Of course, it could just be a seasonal piece of bling — could Marquardt be lucky enough to get two engagement rings? We’ll have to check in again on Nov. 1!
This will be Marquardt’s second marriage. She separated from her first husband, Chad Marquardt, when she moved into the Playboy Mansion in 2002, but their divorce wasn’t finalized until 2008.
Carpenter is a director whose 2009 horror anthology project The Telling was right up Marquardt’s alley. He is the son of original Mercury astronaut Scott Carpenter.
