It’s been a rough year for Nicholas Brendon, and judging by the latest charges that have been placed against him, things aren’t going to be getting easier anytime soon.
The actor, who starred as Xander on the cult classic Buffy the Vampire Slayer, was arrested on Wednesday night in upstate New York after an altercation with his girlfriend, according to police via Page Six.
Saratoga Springs Police Lt. Bob Jillson says officers were called by Brendon’s girlfriend to a downtown hotel around 11 p.m. of that night. She alleges that Brendon took her car keys and cellphone and attempted to choke her. The woman also claims she went to the hotel with the purpose of returning property to Brendon and then retreating, but Brendon objected.

Brendon is facing charges of third-degree robbery, misdemeanor obstruction of breathing and two criminal mischief counts, according to Jillson. He posted a $20,000 bail and was released from jail on Thursday.
Social media users took to Twitter to express their concern for Brendon’s safety, as well as the safety of others, because of his pattern of dangerous behavior.

This arrest is just the latest in a string of scary events that have happened over the past couple of years. Brendon was arrested and charged with grand theft and criminal mischief in February 2015 after drunkenly trashing a Florida hotel room and refusing to pay charges for food and drink he had ordered.
The actor also went to rehab in October 2014, right after he’d spent the night in jail for one count of causing “malicious injury to property.” In the incident, he was accused of causing a disturbance and breaking a decorative dish in the lobby of an Idaho hotel.

Brendon’s rep addressed the actor’s condition after the incident in Florida, saying Brendon was apologetic for his actions but was facing something much bigger.
“Nicholas is, unfortunately, battling a disease that many of us don’t understand,” said the rep. “We are working with him to improve upon the situation at hand and look toward the future. He’s sorry for his actions and takes what happened last night very seriously. We will take great care to ensure his safety in the future.”
