Kim Kardashian might not be due until the holidays, but she is ready to be done being pregnant.
In an honest new post on her website titled “From the desk of: How I really feel about being pregnant,” she let loose about how much she does not enjoy being pregnant. And not only do I understand exactly what she is saying, I agree with her 100 percent.
She said, “I’m gonna keep it real: For me, pregnancy is the worst experience of my life! LOL! I don’t enjoy one moment of it and I don’t understand people who enjoy it.” Kardashian went on to wonder why her mother and her sister Kourtney enjoyed being pregnant, saying, “More power to them but I just don’t relate!”
And she exclaimed, “Maybe it’s the swelling, the backaches or just the complete mindf*** of how your body expands and nothing fits.” She says that it’s difficult for her to put into words but that she “just always feel[s] like [she’s] not in [her] own skin” and that she feels gross.
It’s interesting to get a glimpse into the mind of Kardashian and hear her take on pregnancy and the changes that a woman goes through while expecting. Naturally, people of the Internet are weighing in on Kardashian’s thoughts and they think that she is being shallow or whining about being “bloated.”
One person said, “I garentee [sic] she hates pregnancy for vanity reasons above aches and pains. I’ve never heard of a more self absorbed women [sic] in my life.”
Another noted, “Ugh. On days when I feel bloated I just wear more conservative clothing. Really not that hard of a concept, Kim. Hard to believe she feels unlike herself when she is dressing like her nonpregnant-self [sic].”
It appears people completely missed the mark on what Kardashian is saying. Yes, she mentioned that she feels bloated, but not feeling like yourself during pregnancy is so much more common than anyone thinks. There is this romanticized idea of what pregnancy is or should be like. Women are supposed to love the miracle that is happening inside them and love the changes that are going on outside in order for those internal changes to take place.

And if a woman doesn’t feel this way, she is chastised and guilted into feeling bad about not loving all the awful things happening to her body. (Shocker, I know, people telling a woman how to feel about her body.)
I, too, hated almost every second of expecting and I understand what Kardashian is saying exactly. I felt weird; it was like an out-of-body experience. I can honestly say she is spot-on in saying that it is a difficult feeling to describe, but you just don’t feel like yourself. On top of the restrictions (Can’t lift 25 pounds? My purse weighs more than 25 pounds!), you’re entirely out of control of the way your body responds… and it sucks.
And I didn’t even have half of the issues Kardashian is having to deal with, such as the out-of-control swelling and sickness, etc.

Just because a woman doesn’t love being pregnant doesn’t mean she is not going to be a good mother and it doesn’t make her any less of a woman. Mentioning you are uncomfortable doesn’t mean you are ungrateful, it means you’re uncomfortable. And we know how hard she and Kanye West tried to get pregnant, so that is ludicrous to even say.
But the Internet trolls don’t cut her even an inch of slack, even when Kardashian brings it back home by closing the post by saying, “Really, it is all SO worth it when you have your precious baby in the end! So for all my complaining, it’s 100 percent worth it and more!!!”
And that really is the point, isn’t it? Everyone has their own experience while pregnant. Some love it, some hate it, but in the end we all are enduring for the same end goal: to try to bring a healthy baby into the world. Can’t a girl vent a little about the things that suck about pregnancy?
