Alek Skarlatos may be a super tough Army National Guardsman specialist, but he almost just got knocked out by a tiny dancer.
Skarlatos was rehearsing for an upcoming performance on Dancing with the Stars early this week when his partner, Emma Slater, threw a pretty mean elbow straight to his face, according to TMZ.
Skarlatos’ injury has yet to be confirmed by an X-ray, but reports say doctors on the scene have deemed his nose is broken. The blow comes just two days after the pair celebrated Skarlatos’ 23rd birthday.

The news has left fans wondering what it means for Skarlatos’ future on DWTS, and many have sent the hero get-well wishes on social media.

No word yet on whether or not Skarlatos will be performing tonight for this week’s competition.
Skarlatos, who was one of the Paris train heroes who helped thwart a terror attack on France, is currently assigned to an infantry unit in Roseburg, Oregon. He was enrolled in classes at Umpqua Community College at the time of the fatal shooting that killed nine people at the school earlier this month. Skarlatos was busy with his new Dancing with the Stars schedule, however, and wasn’t attending classes to focus on the show.
This injury isn’t the first medical issue to plague Dancing with the Stars this season. Kim Zolciak was disqualified from the competition after she suffered a ministroke that left her unable to fly or continue to compete in the show.
Zolciak and her partner, Tony Dovolani, rallied to get the producers to allow her to return, but the show held firm about her disqualification.
