T.I. makes embarrassingly sexist comments about a woman president

T.I. said he thinks women are too “rash,” but his recent comments clearly prove that men can have the same problem.

T.I. offended women everywhere when he said during an interview with DJ Whoo Kid that he couldn’t vote for a woman to be president because “I just know that women make rash decisions emotionally — they make very permanent, cemented decisions — and then later, it’s kind of like it didn’t happen, or they didn’t mean for it to happen.”

As if he couldn’t be more clear about his feelings, he also said, “Not to be sexist, but I can’t vote for the leader of the free world to be a woman.”

Now, you can definitely be a feminist and still recognize that there are differences between men and women. We bring different strengths to the table and yet complement each other perfectly, which is exactly why we need equal representation within the world.

But to say a woman couldn’t be president because we’re too emotional is like flashing back to the 1800s, when men wouldn’t let women own property because we were seen as too delicate and fragile to actually be responsible.

And while I try to think through T.I.’s comment with a rational mind on how he could possibly have been misquoted or misinterpreted, it only serves to make my blood boil, because he really has no excuse. Either he’s just as misogynistic as Donald Trump or he’s ignorant to the point of stupidity.

“And I sure would hate to just set off a nuke,” T.I. continued as to why a woman’s “rash” decision- making could be problematic. “[Other leaders] will not be able to negotiate the right kinds of foreign policy; the world ain’t ready yet. I think you might be able to get the Loch Ness Monster elected before you could [get a woman].”

His comments are also ironic, since T.I. accused women of being too rash while making decisions without thinking it through, which is exactly what he did during this interview, and then quickly tried to backpedal like he didn’t actually mean the comment. Like he, um, hmm, tried to say it didn’t happen or he didn’t mean for it to happen. Yeah, that sounds about right.

He quickly took to social media to apologize.

Unfortunately, a Twitter message isn’t going to be the quick fix T.I. was hoping for. And this is one time when I support as many Twitter jokes as people want to share.
