To all the die-hard The Big Bang Theory fans out there who aren’t sure if they want to live in a world where Penny and Leonard aren’t together in real life: Just know that you are not alone.
Ever since TBBT‘s Kaley Cuoco and Johnny Galecki broke up five years ago after two years of dating, we’ve been not-so-secretly wishing that the two would reunite. When Cuoco recently announced her divorce from her husband, Ryan Sweeting, and rumors started to circulate it was because she had rekindled her onset romance with Galecki, we were kind of excited at the prospect of seeing the two together again.
But, alas, our excitement was short-lived, as Cuoco and Galecki took to Instagram on Wednesday to squash the rumors once and for all.

“So sorry to disappoint, but no home wreckers or secret flings going on here. Me and @sanctionedjohnnygalecki are just the best of buds,” Cuoco captioned a pic of her fist-bumping Galecki.

Galecki posted a similar photo with a nearly identical caption. “No scandals / home wreckers / pregnancies here, y’all. Just profound friendship,” he wrote.

OK, at least the two let fans down easy, because if you’re going to announce that you aren’t dating someone, this is pretty much the cutest way to do it.
In reality, it’s highly likely that Cuoco’s going to need a little time to recover from her split with Sweeting, especially since she revealed earlier this year that the couple was already starting to plan a family.
“My husband’s just going back out on the tennis tour, actually literally next week, so we’re giving that two years,” Cuoco responded when asked in an interview with Extra in January when she plans on having kids. “I don’t know if I’d want to wait two years to actually start getting going, but I dunno, maybe a year and a half or so, so I’d like to be like 30, kind of be around then.”
While Cuoco’s romantic future remains uncertain, we know one thing for sure: Her friendship with Galecki is for keeps.
“Kaley’s not just an ex, she’s a part of my life,” Galecki said of Cuoco in 2013.
