If you’re wondering how Khloé Kardashian gained access to Lamar Odom while he’s in a critical condition in intensive care, there’s one simple reason: They are still married.
Despite the fact that Kardashian and Odom finally signed their divorce papers over the summer, a judgment has not yet been entered into court — so they are still legally married.
This might turn out to be the only lucky break in Odom’s health crisis, because usually only family members are allowed into the ICU to see patients — so if their divorce had been finalized, Kardashian would not be allowed in to see him.
As it stands, a source told People that Kardashian is frantic over Odom’s condition.
“It’s so sad and the situation is unimaginable,” the insider told the magazine. “Before Khloé got to the hospital she was inconsolable and now she just wants to be by his side. The Kardashians are his family.”
The couple wed in September 2009 after a whirlwind month-long courtship. The marriage fell apart amid rumors of the basketball star’s cheating and drug use, and Kardashian finally filed for divorce in December 2013.

Odom’s long history of drug abuse came to a head this weekend when he was found unresponsive at the Love Ranch South brothel in Nevada. Reports vary on what substances may have been involved, but he is currently “in a coma and hasn’t woken up or responded,” a source told E! News.
But when he does wake up, he will see that familiar face.
“She’s strong, she’s hopeful, she’s loving and caring,” the Reverend Jesse Jackson told E!. “She is so serious. And when he does wake up, he’ll see her and that’s a source of joy and consolation.”
Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian accompanied Khloé to Odom’s bedside.
One good thing could come out of this terrible situation. Perhaps inspired by Odom’s crisis, Scott Disick has entered rehab after his reported substance abuse issues contributed to the demise of his relationship with Kourtney Kardashian.
