Heidi Klum recently stirred up some controversy when she opened up about how her parenting has changed post-divorce. In a new interview with Redbook, Klum stated that she has to be both “a mom and a dad” to her kids following her split from ex-husband Seal. The comment immediately fueled some public backlash and now, Klum is taking it upon herself to clear the air.
In the latest cover story for Redbook, Klum got candid about how life with her kids has changed since she and Seal officially went their separate ways in 2012.

“Obviously, things have changed, but they haven’t changed drastically,” she told the magazine. “[Seal] was never your typical dad who left for work in the morning with his briefcase and would be home by dinnertime every night. He traveled a lot. The kids knew it was part of his job. I’m a mom and dad at the same time.”

Her statements — particularly the last few lines — quickly drew the ire of the Internet. Some perceived Klum’s comment as a dis at Seal and took to Twitter to condemn her attitude.
Meanwhile, others defended Klum and praised her honesty.
Now, Klum is taking the time to clear up the controversy herself, clarifying to People that the comments were not meant as an insult to Seal. “It is frustrating to me that some other media outlets are taking what was said in the article to suggest that I was aiming to malign my children’s father. Because I was not!” she said. “In the article, I say that, as a single parent, ‘I’m a mom and a dad at the same time.’ And that is the case when I’m alone with our kids… and I assume the same rings true when they are with their dad.”

She went on to explain, “As a single parent, you have so many roles — you are wearing all the hats. The mom hat, the dad hat, the chef hat, the teacher hat, the disciplinarian hat, the clown hat and the work hat. You have your hands full, but you just try your best because it’s all about raising happy and healthy kids. That’s all we both want.”
Looks like there’s no drama to speculate over after all.
