During a stand-up gig at Gotham Comedy Club in New York City on Saturday night, O’Donnell took an emotional turn and got candid about the issues with her daughter, Chelsea, which have been highly publicized.
According to Entertainment Tonight, O’Donnell told the crowd, “I love all of my kids. My daughter has been in the news. It’s been in the news, but it’s not news to the family. It’s been a decade long. As mom, my wish is for love and peace and wait until it’s done.”
She continued, “Chelsea just turned 18. For adopted children, 18 is a magic number. At 18, they’re gonna rebel any way they can, any way they can get your attention.”

O’Donnell also insisted that Chelsea has a chemical imbalance, despite her daughter firing back at O’Donnell’s claims in an outspoken interview with the Daily Mail.
“I know about mental illness — I have my own,” O’Donnell shared, explaining her own experience with depression that started when she was 20 years old.
As for how she plans to move forward in her relationship with her daughter, O’Donnell said, “What choice do you have but to get through? I have four other kids.”
Aside from dealing with her estranged relationship with her daughter, O’Donnell is also in the midst of a custody battle with her ex, Michelle Rounds, over their 2-year-old daughter, Dakota.
