Adele posts open letter to say ‘I’m sorry’ to her fans

Adele fans have had a double serving of excitement this week. Just when they’d calmed down after the singer apparently teased a new single during Sunday’s X Factor ad break, she’s gone and written an entire letter to her adoring public.

And a damn good read it is too. The “Someone Like You” singer reveals the inspiration behind her long-awaited third album in the note, which was posted to her official Facebook and Twitter accounts.

“My last record was a break-up record and if I had to label this one I would call it a make-up record,” she writes. “I’m making up with myself. Making up for lost time. Making up for everything I ever did or never did. But I haven’t got time to hold on to the crumbs of my past like I used to. What’s done is done.”

“25 is about getting to know who I’ve become without realising,” she states, appearing to confirm reports that her third album will continue her trend of naming albums after the age at which she recorded them. The mum-of-one apologised for how long it’s taken her to record, saying: “And I’m sorry it took so long, but you know, life happened.”

Here’s Adele’s letter in full:

Adele’s third album is expected to be such a success that other artists are pushing back the release dates for their own albums, reported BBC newsbeat this week. Rapper Tinie Tempah said he had heard that some artists were “moving back their stuff.”

“You can’t put an album out at the same time as Adele, it’s the law,” said Olly Alexander from Years and Years at Monday’s Q Awards.

Nov. 20 is the rumoured release date for Adele’s third album, said the BBC. Which gives her plenty of time to whip her fans into even more of a frenzy as they await its drop.
