Reese Witherspoon really thinks Legally Blonde 3 needs to happen, but not for the reason you’d probably expect.
Rather, during an interview with Witherspoon on Rachel Zoe’s program Fashionably Late, the actress explained that with women in politics being such a hot-button issue now, it’s the perfect time for more Elle Woods.

“I actually think it’s kinda great right now because we’re talking about women in politics and how important that is,” Witherspoon explained, which got applause, and she added, “Yeah, more women.”
“And I think it would be kind of a cool thing to have her be a Supreme Court justice or someone who runs for office. President?”

Elle Woods for president! Yes, please.
When we last saw Elle in Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde, she was heading to Washington, D.C., to partner with a congresswoman in an attempt to ban animal testing. Throughout the movie, she learns the ins and outs of the capital, which is the perfect stepping-stone to Witherspoon’s suggestion that she should now hold office.
Zoe shared our childlike excitement. “Don’t tease me about this,” she said in all seriousness, “because this is like, I’m going to go home with this tonight.”
“I think we’re ready to see Elle and see what she’s up to,” Witherspoon agreed.

But she was also sure to say that she had no power over the decisions made about Legally Blonde 3 and it would be something for the MGM execs to ultimately act on. Right now, Witherspoon and the rest of the world just really, really wants to see it.
MGM, are you listening?
