This is one of the best conspiracies to hit the Internet in recent times, but it didn’t take long for it to turn from hilarious to vulgar.
A Tumblr user seems to have discovered the existence of Demi Lovato’s twin sister, and her name is Poot. Seriously, I’m not kidding.
The origin of Poot seems to have come from a photo and crude sketch posted by user Versaceslut. The photo looks like a bad cell phone snap from a red-carpet event, and is clearly from a while ago, as Lovato is still sporting her shaved head.
The original post was removed, but it was reposted by user cstcrpt with the caption, “Demi’s twin sister. She was locked in a basement her whole life. This picture was taken the first time she went outside. Her name is Poot.”
And thus, “Poot” was born, and the Internet rejoiced, and the memes rained down, and they’re hilarious.

Funny, yes — but it isn’t serious until Taylor Swift and Beyoncé are invoked.
Poot even got her own wiki, which proved to be enlightening and terrifying at the same time, claiming that she speaks only German — but can sing in English — and that she was basically going to murder her pop-star sister.

A good viral Internet conspiracy doesn’t really have legs until there is a Twitter handle created for it.
So, @OfficialPoot was created.
But the fun — and funniness — pretty much stops there. The account is riddled with vulgar tweets at other celebs, mentioning any number of disgusting things, and often tweets vulgarities at Lovato herself. If you plan on checking it out, proceed with caution; it’s pretty terrible.
The Twitter account was created on Oct. 12 and it’s rumored that the person behind it might be a fan fiction writer, Kayley Marie Todd. Todd began posting fan fiction to Wattpad on the same day the Twitter account was created. She has written 10 chapters of The Secret Life of PootLovato, which has been read more than 62,000 times.
The real Lovato has yet to respond publicly about this newfound sibling, and given the nasty direction this joke is going, she probably won’t.
