The View’s Raven-Symoné is being called out for her outlandish opinions once again, this time about the Spring Valley High School assault.
During a segment on After The View, Symoné engaged in the ultimate victim-blaming when she said that the student thrown to the ground and body-slammed by South Carolina deputy Ben Fields should have been following the rules.
“The girl was told multiple times to get off the phone,” Symoné said. “There’s no right or reason for him to be doing this type of harm — that’s ridiculous — but at the same time, you gotta follow the rules in school. First of all, why are there cell phones in school? This shouldn’t even be a problem to begin with, and he shouldn’t have been acting like that on top of it.”

Fields was caught on video flipping over the student’s desk with her sitting in the attached chair, then dragging her out of the classroom. He has since been fired from his post.
Symoné did bring up Fields’ record of complaints, but still managed to turn it around on the victim once again.
“He was actually sued for false arrest, excessive force and battery in 2007, after a couple accused him of manhandling them,” she read from a paper on the table in front of her. “He has a record and he’s still hired. But at the same time, get off yo’ phone. You are in school. Get off yo’ phone.”

Needless to say, her remarks did not win her any fans, even angering a celebrity.

Symoné has not provided any further commentary on the issue.
