Rihanna is out, and Ellie Goulding is in for the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
And while we can’t wait to hear Goulding belt out some of her latest hits while the models strut in some enviable lingerie, we can’t help but wonder what happened to RiRi.

According to People, the powerhouse pop star dropped out because she had to “finish work on her album.”
We get that an album takes a lot of labor and love, but the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is like the ladies’ version of the Super Bowl. You don’t just pass up that opportunity.
Plus, she’s dropping out pretty last minute, since the show is scheduled to film next week. You would think she would have planned ahead and known before signing on that it would conflict with her album prep.
The excuse just seems pretty lame.

So was she just unprepared? Did nerves get the better of her? Were there disagreements about her performance?
We’re going to go ahead and guess that she does actually have a legit excuse since Rihanna killed it in the 2012 VS Fashion Show, so we know she can take down a runway just like those leggy models.
Of course, Rihanna has yet to comment on her reasons for leaving. We’ll leave it up to the songstress to come up with a more likely story while we console our disappointment with the fact that Goulding will no doubt kill it on the runway.

The Weeknd and Selena Gomez are also set to perform while models like Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Candice Swanepoel, Behati Prinsloo and newcomer Gigi Hadid will be walking in the brand’s hottest looks. Lily Aldridge will also be modeling the $2 million Fantasy Bra this year.
Needless to say, it’s gonna be good.
