Kelsea Ballerini made a fan’s dreams come true by inviting her to rock the red carpet at the 2015 CMA Awards in Nashville Wednesday night. But Ballerini’s plus-one wasn’t just any date; she was a 17-year-old fan who is battling brain cancer.
The night was already pretty special for Ballerini, who was nominated for New Artist of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year. But it may have turned out even more special for Allie Allen, the girl who accompanied her on the red carpet and to the awards show.
“She just finished radiation and she starts chemo in a couple weeks,” Ballerini told reporters before hitting the red carpet. “Beautiful, most stunning, amazing girl.”
She continued, “She’s missed out on a couple things in high school and that’s not fair, so she’s coming with me. My stylist pulled all these beautiful dresses for her… she’s going to look stunning. She’s so beautiful.”

And Allen did look incredible, stealing the spotlight on the red carpet in a black skirt and sparkling gold top, with a matching black clutch.

Ballerini wasn’t even concerned with whether she’d take home the awards, according to what she told reporters — she was just there to have a great time with Allen.
“It’s my first CMA Awards, and I want it to be as special as I can make it be,” she said. “I knew having her there would be very memorable. It can’t be a bad night.”
