Soap star Nathaniel Marston is still in critical condition after a terrible car accident, and his prognosis for the future will bring major challenges.
Marston, best known for his roles on One Life To Live and As The World Turns, was injured in a single-car accident in Nevada on Oct. 30 after falling asleep at the wheel. Police say he was thrown through the windshield when his pickup truck flipped several times.
Although he underwent surgery on Nov. 4, his mother says he is still in critical condition and has a long battle ahead of him.

“In the early morning hours of November 5 his heart stopped on two separate occasions requiring doctors to use an external pacemaker to regulate his heartbeat,” Elizabeth Jackson revealed in a press release. “He remains in critical condition, fighting pneumonia, a heart infection and irregular pulse. The relatively positive prognosis which followed his previous surgery has dimmed.”
Jackson added that her son has “extremely severe” damage to his vertebrae and will likely be paralyzed if he lives.
“It is now believed that the hope of recovering upper body function was premature and that Marston will most likely live out his life as a quadriplegic,” she said.

Now Marston’s fans are rallying behind him during his time of need. A GoFundMe account set up to allow his mother to stay by his side at the hospital has netted over $8,000 to date, and fans from all over the world are leaving notes talking about what Marston has meant to them.
“Nathaniel was so helpful to me when my twin brother passed away back in 2004,” wrote David Coleman, a former security guard at OLTL. “Even more then the words of comfort and support, I remember that hugs he gave; they were hugs from the depth of his soul, with nothing held back. In each of those 10 seconds vignettes, Nathaniel had given me more of himself then others had in a lifetime.”
Fan Parker Summers shared, “I have been a fan of Nathaniel’s for most of my life. in school (dealing with my disability) his smile and personality was always a bright light. honestly not much times goes by when I watch something of his. Marcie & Michael made it feel ok to be average or different. I have been praying & spreading word and lending my guardian angel hoping he will be ok after this accident.”
We join them in sending our thoughts and wishes for a speedy recovery to Marston and his family.
UPDATE:Marston lost his 2-week battle to survive on Nov. 11.
