“I think taking care of yourself as a person and a mother first is always important,” Lowry explained. “And if she has to go through some bumps in the road to get into a healthy place, then nobody should knock her for it.”

Messer spent some time in rehab this past summer, reportedly taking some time to figure herself out. She insists that it wasn’t due to a rumored prescription pill addiction.

Admittedly, Lowry said she doesn’t keep in touch with Messer very often, but she does speak with Messer’s ex, Jeremy Calvert. Though when she does, the two avoid talking about Messer, since Lowry said she doesn’t want to cause an uncomfortable situation.

“I want to stay out of that as much as possible because I feel like it’s such a touchy subject and I don’t want to step on any toes or anything,” she said. “We just talk more of like work and stuff like that and the kids.”

Messer’s other ex, Corey Simms, was just awarded primary custody of their shared twin girls, Ali and Aleeah. There are rumors that Messer is really struggling with the loss.

“I think whatever works for their family is great,” Lowry added about Messer’s journey as a mother. “I don’t know their family like they know their own family.”

But she said that she would tell Simms to have patience now that he’s raising two twin girls with his wife, Miranda.

“Kids take patience,” she said, adding, “They know that.”

Do you think Messer deserves the benefit of the doubt at this point?
