The former UFC Women’s Bantamweight champion (and all-around badass) was defeated Saturday by Holly Holm, ending a 12-fight winning streak and marking her first career loss as an MMA fighter.
Holm’s win was a major upset, and it was followed by more bad news for Rousey: She ended up hospitalized after the fight.
“She was transported [to the hospital] because she got knocked out,” UFC President Dana White told reporters after the fight, which saw Rousey knocked to the ground less than a minute into the second round. “And her lip was split in half…and they had to sew her lip.”
He continued, “I mean, obviously, she’s completely bummed out and depressed.”

Holm can be seen on video from the fight knocking down Rousey with a kick to the head, and then continuing to fight her on the ground until the referee pulls her away.
Millions tuned in for the pay-per-view fight, including some celebs, who expressed their shock at Rousey’s loss on social media.

After the fight, Holm told announcer Joe Rogan that she had support from her fans to take down Rousey, even though Rousey was undefeated.
“Getting in here, I had so much love and support. I just felt like, ‘How could I not do this, with all that love?'” she said, wearing her championship belt.
