We’re feeling for Olly Murs right now. The loveable TV presenter made a huge gaffe during the X Factor results show on Sunday night — and he’s paying for it dearly.

We all know things go wrong on live television. But, of all the slip-ups Murs could have made, mistakenly telling a contestant they were going home before the decision had been made was probably the worst.
The “Dear Darlin'” singer miscounted the judges’ votes and told Monica Michael she was going straight home, when in fact the vote was a deadlock and she still had a chance to be saved by the public vote.
To make things worse for poor Michael, the subsequent results of the public vote revealed that she would in fact be going home. And red-faced Murs had to stand beside her, looking incredibly sheepish, while his co-host Caroline Flack broke the bad news.
After the show, Murs was quick to take to Twitter to apologise.

Some social media users have decided that his blunder proves the X Factor is a fix, while others have taken delight in having a laugh at his expense.
But there has also been a whole lot of love for the 31-year-old pop star, who made the final of X Factor himself in 2009.
Michael was up against Anton Stephans in the sing-off but her emotional rendition of Beyoncé’s “Broken Hearted Girl” wasn’t enough to secure the votes of Nick Grimshaw or Simon Cowell. She became the latest X Factor evictee, following Max Stone’s swift exit a few minutes previously.
Watch Murs cringe below — if you can bear it.
The presenter’s expression when leaving the X Factor studios says it all (and shall forever be known as “The Olly”).
