Ronda Rousey has vowed to return to the ring after her humiliating defeat — as soon as she patches up her ego.
Rousey, who is known for her braggartly rants against her competitors, was served a harsh lesson on Saturday night at UFC 193 when rival Holly Holm took her out with a single head kick and captured the women’s bantamweight title.
It was a humiliating defeat for Rousey, who vowed to retire undefeated — which now obviously won’t happen. She addressed her disappointment, and her future plans, with her fans on social media today.

“I just wanted to thank everyone for the love and support,” Rousey wrote in an Instagram post Sunday night. “I appreciate the concerns about my health, but I’m fine. As I had mentioned before, I’m going to take a little bit of time, but I’ll be back.”
Another of Rousey’s rivals, Miesha Tate, says she is glad someone finally took Rousey down a notch.

“I don’t feel sorry for her — I think she kind of got what was coming to her,” Tate told MMA Junkie. “This was something that was long overdue. I feel like maybe now she’s going to be more humble in her approach. I would respect her even more as an athlete and as a competitor. I would respect her more if she was a little bit more humble in her approach to all of this. She doesn’t feel sorry me in for my position so no, it is what it is. It’s the fight game and she signed on the dotted line. They both showed up, and Holly was the better fighter.”
Immediately after the match, Rousey was sent to a Melbourne hospital where she was checked for serious injuries. While reports say she will need facial plastic surgery, she escaped more serious issues like a concussion and is on her way home to Los Angeles.
