According to a new report from People magazine, Odom may have more to worry about than just his ongoing recovery. The site reports that Odom may eventually face drug charges related to his health crisis.
“The Nye County Sheriff’s Office has now asked the Nye County District Attorney’s Office to review a request for prosecution against Lamar Odom for Use of, or Under the Influence of, a Controlled Substance,” Nye County district attorney, Angela A. Bello, said in a statement to the site. “The D.A.’s office will take the time needed to appropriately review that request, along with all evidence that might support that request, in order to reach a just conclusion regarding whether to advance charges.”

Odom was found unconscious at a legal brothel in Nevada on Oct. 13. He was rushed to a local hospital and then transferred to Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, where People says law enforcement took a sample of his blood to test for drugs. The decision to do a toxicology test came after a man could be heard on the 911 call reporting the incident saying Odom had used cocaine at the brothel. He reportedly tested positive for the drug.
Odom remains hospitalized at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he was transferred to be closer to his family, especially estranged wife Khloé Kardashian. His past addiction issues have been well documented. In 2013, the year Khloé filed for divorce, he reportedly entered rehab but left after only one day. News reports around the same time claimed the former NBA star was spending $800 a day on drugs following a DUI. Prior to that, Odom violated the NBA’s drug policies several times during his basketball career.
