Everyone is rooting for Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton‘s romance, and Ellen DeGeneres appears to be one of the couple’s fans — or, at the very least, she wants to know more about their relationship.

Stefani appeared on the The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Friday, and host DeGeneres proved why she’s so good at her job when she fired out a question about Shelton’s kissing skills.

Here’s how it went down.

“I’ve told you before, I love Blake. I think he’s hilarious, and he really is knowledgeable. He knows so much about music, doesn’t he?” DeGeneres said.

Stefani then made a surprising confession; she actually had no idea who Shelton was before she joined The Voice (because she’s an O.C. girl).

“I did not know this about him because I didn’t even know who he was before I was on the show. Before I was on The Voice, I never heard of him before. I didn’t. I hadn’t. I’m an O.C. girl. Like, what would I know?” Stefani told DeGeneres. “But he knows every single ’80s song. He literally is a musical jukebox. He knows everything about music, it’s crazy.”

And that’s when DeGeneres interjected to ask about Shelton’s smooching, although, we didn’t exactly get an answer because Stefani was too busy blushing.

But while DeGeneres was hoping to get the scoop on Shelton, she chose not to address Stefani’s divorce from Gavin Rossdale — a topic that has been grabbing all the headlines lately.

“When someone is going through what you went through — and we won’t, you know, if you’ve read the magazines, you know what we’re talking about, and if you haven’t, I don’t know that we really want to talk about it: Divorce,” DeGeneres said. “…You were hurting, and you get to do this creative outlet of writing a song… I think a lot of women need this. A lot of women are going through the same thing you’re going through.”

To which Stefani responded, “It’s comforting, you know? And also, music for me, it’s what defines me,” Stefani said. “It validates me as a person. That’s my whole thing. Like, if I can write a song, then I just feel like, ‘Yes!'”
