Joey Feek is staying strong in the last days of her cancer battle, but wishes she could be the one to raise her baby.

Rory Feek, who is husband to Joey and one-half of the country duo known to fans as Joey + Rory, shared a beautiful, yet emotional, moment in a post on their blog, ThisLifeILive. While watching a snowfall, his wife of 12 years who is suffering from stage IV cervical cancer, felt like there was light coming into the darkness she was feeling.

A mother’s plea
Rory read Joey a note from a neighbor, whose daughter named Scout can’t wait for the Feeks’ 21-month old daughter, Indiana, to grow up and join her at camp. It was at that moment Joey began sobbing and shaking. Rory comforted his wife by putting his arms around her. When he asked her what was wrong, she replied, “I want to raise our baby…. I want to be the one to teach her.”

Joey remained inconsolable until she looked at the snowfall. She broke into a smile and said, “If this is the last snow I ever see, thank you, Jesus.” Mother nature gave this mother a little bit of comfort on a dark day.

Diagnosed last year, Joey, 40, went through a series of surgeries, radiation and chemotherapy to treat her cancer. Earlier this month, she entered into hospice at her Alexandria, Indiana, home. Rory Feek is keeping friends and fans posted about Joey’s condition through their blog and Instagram. Their inspirational story has become a national headline.
