Scream Queens: Hester is totally the other Red Devil killer

Well, that Thanksgiving episode of Scream Queens was something to be thankful for. First, and most importantly, it featured Chad Michael Murray as Brad Radwell. Secondly, a major character was killed. Thirdly, a surprising family connection was unmasked. Finally, the identity of the other Red Devil might have just been given away.

Did anyone expect for it to be unveiled that Wes is Boone’s father? What the what? That means Grace and Boone are/were sister and brother. Also, that means Wes has another child running around campus, who may or may not be the other Red Devil committing murders. That was one Maury Povich moment I didn’t expect.

Let’s also discuss the fact that Gigi is now dead. Boone got what he wanted all along. I assume the other Red Devil chopped off her head with that meat carver, because that’s the only thing that makes sense at this moment in time. However, future details might dispute that assumption.

Now, let’s get to the other important part of the episode (and I don’t mean Chad Michael Murray): the identity of the other Red Devil. It was interesting to see some of the characters give their theories about who the two Red Devils are, but I think they’re wrong with their guesses. They didn’t speculate about the one character who I now think it is after 10 episodes. At first my gut was saying Grace, but now I’m not so sure.

With that said, I’m pretty sure Hester is the other Red Devil — and not just because she’s obsessed with death. There were several clues given away in this episode that suggest she is most definitely the other killer on campus.

1. She mentioned Ms. Bean’s carver

Remember that carver at the beginning Gigi so desperately wanted from the bellboy and the one that probably ended her life? Hester mentioned it at the end of the episode. After Chanel asked her why she had a knife in her hand to carve the turkey, Hester replied, “I couldn’t find Ms. Bean’s carver, but this one is sharp enough to glide easily through roasted flesh.” A carver isn’t something everyone has in their kitchen, so how does Hester know Ms. Bean had one, unless she used it to kill Gigi? Coincidence? I think not.

2. She has the perfect alibi

At the beginning of the episode, Gigi said to the masked Red Devil, “I know you have plans.” Hester definitely had plans — showing up at Chad’s house for Thanksgiving. That sure sounds like the perfect alibi to me.

3. She’s desperate for a sister

Hester said to Chanel, “All I’ve ever wanted was to be your sister.” She seems desperate to belong somewhere, which is probably how the bathtub babies would feel after being isolated from society for so long.

4. She looked happy to see Gigi’s decapitated head

After discovering Gigi’s chopped-off head and the camera zoomed in on each character screaming, did anyone else think it looked like Hester was kind of smiling? Yes, I know she’s obsessed with death so maybe she liked it, but it just seemed odd.

5. She wasn’t listed as a suspect

While waiting for the turkey to cook, Dean Munsch, Chanel #3, Pete, Wes, Grace and Zayday went around listing their Red Devil theories. Not one person mentioned Hester, which may or may not be a clue that she is definitely the other killer.

6. She came back from “the dead”

Hester somehow miraculously survived Chanel pushing her down that really long staircase. Per Hester, her neck brace and the cold floor of the meat freezer are to thank. But what killer doesn’t come back from the dead?

Scream Queens airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on Fox.
