Ryan Gosling finally opens up about his family with Eva Mendes

Ryan Gosling is clearly head over heels in love with Eva Mendes and his baby daughter Esmeralda.

In a new interview with Hello! magazine, Gosling gushed about his family in what is probably his most candid interview since Esmeralda’s birth.

“I know that I’m with the person I’m supposed to be with,” Gosling said of Mendes, adding that the one quality he looks for in a woman is “that she’s Eva Mendes. There’s nothing else I’m looking for.”

The couple has been dating since 2011 after meeting on their film The Place Beyond the Pines. Their daughter, Esmeralda, is obviously the apple of Gosling’s eye, but the couple has notably kept their daughter out of the spotlight. Even Mendes’ pregnancy was a secret for as long as the two could manage.

“This will be our first Christmas where [Esmeralda is] sort of taking it all in, so that’s exciting,” Gosling revealed. And while he’s clearly enjoying fatherhood and all the duties that come with it, he also told the outlet that it’s “not rocket science.”

Sources who spoke with People magazine also confirm the little family’s bliss this holiday.

“She’s never been happier,” a source said of Mendes. “She and Ryan are just in awe of this beautiful person they created. It’s a really special time for them.”

Gosling is reportedly focusing on his family this holiday season, but he will also be pulling double duty as an A-list actor. Gosling has two films hitting theaters soon. The Big Short, which also stars Brad Pitt, Steve Carell and Christian Bale, will be released Dec. 23, while Gosling’s film La La Land, co-starring Emma Stone, will be released Summer 2016.
