Since Adele burst back into the charts with her new smash hit “Hello” our news feeds have seen a steady stream of parodies, memes and Adele-related stories. One of the latest to go viral involves the singer’s 2011 hit “Someone Like You,” a “two-timing, lying, cheating dirt bag” and… um, a lot of vomit.

Adele is the queen of the heartbreak song so it shouldn’t come as any surprise that she’s helped many get through particularly tough breakups.
Stephanie Pope from Derry, Northern Ireland, had something of an epiphany while listening to Adele’s Brit Awards rendition of “Someone Like You.” And she shared the story with the world (or at least Adele and the fans of her official Facebook page), sparing no detail. It paints quite a picture…
Pope described how she’d gone on a “f*** you and your secret love child” night out, returning to the home she still shared with the cheating ex-fiancé she had split up with two weeks previously. More than a little worse for wear, she was sick in the kitchen bin watching a pre-recorded version of Adele’s Brits performance.
“I sang and cried at the top of my lungs, believing I was you as I belted out every word to the b*****d in the doorway looking at me in disgust!” she wrote. “He closed the door on me and went to bed! I didn’t give a s***, I was p**** and I was a woman, with feelings, and a heart, and I deserved better. All I needed was me and you, because you understood! LOL!!! We connected that night! [sic].”

Pope went on to reveal that she is now free of the “ratbag ex-fiancé and his (still secret) love child, totally cured and healed by the man of my dreams, my best buddy (and now husband).”
Her final message to Adele: “Thanks for helping me through it all.”

The post now has over 64,000 likes and has been shared over 3,000 times — but not all of the attention has been positive. While some commenters have empathised with Pope, writing “we’ve all been here before” and “thank you for sharing that hilarious story,” others have suggested it’s a tale that should have remained private.
“I read this whole thing thinking there was going to be a punchline at the end. But no, just another person sharing too much on Facebook,” posted Emmet Kelly. “Next time just a simple thanks will do.”
