Did [SPOILER]’s death on The Originals pave the way for a Klaroline reunion?

As much as I didn’t want to see Cami die on The Originals‘ midseason finale tonight, it might actually end up being a good thing.

Not that death is ever a good thing, but in the context of fictional characters and furthering the storyline on the show, I think the writers made a smart move.

Admittedly, I was a big believer that Jackson was going to be the one to die during tonight’s episode. Especially after executive producer Michael Narducci made it clear when I spoke to him that things between Elijah and Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) aren’t over just yet.

I figured that maybe Jackson would swoop in and decide to help the Original family after all and end up getting himself killed, much to Hayley’s guilt-ridden dismay. I really had this whole scenario worked out in my mind.

But bravo to The Originals for pulling out the surprises!

Plus, Cami’s death kind of still keeps my long-clutched hope alive that Caroline (Candice King) and Klaus (Joseph Morgan) could reunite at some point in the near future. Sure she’s all kinds of complicatedly pregnant right now and whatnot, but Klaus did promise to be her endgame. And they’ve got another thousand years to figure things out. I’m just really, really hoping that it happens for them before the end of their respective shows because I need to see their love unfold. You just can’t forget chemistry like that!

How great would it be if just when Aurora thought she had gotten rid of the competition, Caroline came swooping in?

And I know, I know. I’m getting ahead of myself. Klaus just lost Cami. And I am definitely sad to see her go. I absolutely didn’t realize how much her character had grown on me. Not to mention how tragic it was for her to die right after she and Klaus finally shared a smoldering kiss.

Still, I’m trying to be a glass half-full kind of girl tonight. And that glass is full of fresh hope for Klaroline.

What do you think Cami’s death means for the rest of The Originals‘ Season 3?
