Another award show nominees list has been released — and many The Wiz Live! and Johnny Depp fans are sure to be pleased with the Critics’ Choice Awards nominees.
That’s right; unlike the Golden Globes, Johnny Depp is up for Best Actor, alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, Bryan Cranston, Matt Damon, Michael Fassbender and Eddie Redmayne. And as for The Wiz Live!, fan favorite Shanice Williams is up for Best Actress in a Movie Made for TV or Limited Series. (But she isn’t the only nominee from the cast!)
However, the Critics’ Choice Awards does have one huge upset. The nominees for Best Director: Still no women nominees.
The biggest surprise of them all, though? Mad Max: Fury Road is up for a whopping 13 nominations, including Best Picture, Best Actress and Best Director. Carol, The Martian and The Revenant follow with nine nominations each.
In TV, ABC, HBO and FX Networks lead with 14 nominations each. Fox follows with 12 nominations. The TV show with the most nominations? Fargo, with The Leftovers and Transparent close behind with six nominations each.
