Why we’re excited Mara McCaffray is joining Y&R

The Young and the Restless has announced the casting of an intriguing new character, Natalie. How will she play into Kevin and Mariah’s friendship? It looks like the sparks are going to fly.

There’s nothing better than a new girl in town to turn life upside down. Just ask the residents of Genoa City on The Young and the Restless, who are about to see how new cast member Mara McCaffray is going to mix it up with Kevin Fisher, played by Greg Rikaart.

McCaffray will play the recurring role of Natalie, whom CBS Soaps in Depth describes as “a tech wiz with a passion for cyber life.” Remember when Kevin mentioned a Swiss hacker in an episode that aired the week of Dec. 7? Natalie is that gal.

While her character’s debut on Y&R doesn’t happen until Friday, Jan. 15, this gives viewers plenty of time to speculate how she will make an impact on Kevin and possibly Mariah Copeland’s (Camryn Grimes) life. Even though the two aren’t a couple, there are still feelings on Mariah’s end after an attempt at a relationship with Kevin.

If Kevin is excited about Natalie’s arrival, how is Mariah going to feel? She’s already curious about the female hacker Kevin met in Switzerland. Once Mariah puts the pieces of the puzzle together, viewers should expect some jealous sparks to fly.

It could be the start of a very complicated love triangle for the trio.

The timing is also perfect for Kevin, who hasn’t had a steamy and tumultuous love interest since Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) left Genoa City.

In addition, Natalie’s technology skills could come into play since Billy (Burgess Jenkins) already knows of Kevin’s plans to make computers hacker-proof. There’s even a brewing plotline with Noah (Robert Adamson) asking Kevin to get the inside scoop on the Santori family. Will Natalie be dragged into the fray?

It looks like the show’s writers might be making some juicy plans for Natalie’s character.
