RHONY‘s Bethenny Frankel & Sonja Morgan duke it out over liquor

RHONY‘s Bethenny Frankel and Sonja Morgan are battling over their alcohol brands.

It’s not surprising to see two Real Housewives battle it out under the influence of alcohol. In a new twist, Bethenny Frankel and Sonja Morgan are battling it out over alcohol. And not in the Ramona Singer “give me my pinot grigio!” kind of way.

Frankel is famous for her $100 million Skinnygirl brand of cocktails. Morgan, known for “creating an international lifestyle brand,” announced that she was planning to launch a liquor brand called Tipsy Girl. While Frankel is indeed skinny and Morgan definitely tipsy, the two names really are not different enough to be easily distinguished by consumers.

Frankel filed paperwork to trademark Tipsygirl, which angered Morgan and her business partner, Peter Guimaraes, enough to sue Frankel and her company.

According to Page Six, Guimaraes called Frankel “underhanded.” He went on to say, “[Frankel] is threatened by this Tipsy Girl brand, which is not a copycat nor competition for Skinnygirl. We are not advocating that you will lose weight with our product.”

But a source tells People that Guimaraes is using the litigation to drum up publicity for the Tipsy Girl brand. “Frankel ‘doesn’t care’ about the line and is more concerned about Guimaraes and Morgan using her brand for media attention,” shares a source.

The source continues, “This claim is not legitimate. He [Guimaraes] attempted to register the name ‘Tipsy Girl’ for the restaurant, and his application was rejected because he sent in a picture of the bottle with a fake ‘Tipsy Girl’ label.”

The source says that the government bureau that oversees the alcohol and tobacco industries “would never approve the name ‘Tipsy Girl.'”

Given Morgan’s track record, this Tipsy Girl liquor line could easily go the way of her toaster oven. But if it does launch, there could be confusion about the two liquor lines. Maybe sexy Sonja with a “J” should put a picture of her on the bottle looking tipsy (her usual). That’s one way to tell the difference.

I hope that these two can sit down over a couple of glasses of Ramona pinot grigio and settle their differences. At least no one is accusing anyone of a fake illness (so far).
