Things may finally be looking up for Leah Messer.
According to Radar Online, the beleaguered Teen Mom 2 star has an official hearing on the books next month in a bid to regain custody of her and ex-husband Corey Simms’ twin daughters, Ali and Aleeah.
Messer and Simms have been embroiled in a bitter custody battle for quite some time, but October marked the first time Simms was awarded full primary custody of the twins — something he and his current wife, Miranda, have been striving for since rumors surfaced in 2014 that Messer was abusing prescription pills.

During the October hearing over the adorable twins, who turn 6 years old this week, Messer’s ability to adequately provide a stable household for her children was called into question. Specifically, the girls’ repeatedly tardy school attendance was reportedly cited, although sources claim Messer met with the superintendent and proved she had dropped the girls off in a timely manner.
Simms possibly also gained leverage from Messer’s stint in rehab this summer, which she claims was on the account of stress and anxiety and not because of her rumored prescription pill addiction.
But despite the rough start to the year, Messer seems to be ending it on a positive note. Recently, fans have been complimenting her friendly co-parenting relationship with her other ex, Jeremy Calvert. Messer has primary custody of their 2-year-old daughter, Adalynn.
And despite denying it, a few telling Christmas tree photos shared on social media suggest Messer has moved on from Calvert and is currently cohabiting with T.R. Dues, a personal trainer.
Now that Messer is getting her life back on track, the MTV star is allegedly ready to bring the girls home for good.
“Leah is thrilled she got a court date. She’s been waiting for this opportunity for months,” an insider told Radar Online, adding, “Leah thinks she has a good chance to get her daughters back — she’s optimistic.”

Until then, Messer maintains primary custody of Adalynn (also known as “Addie”) and weekend custody of Ali and Aleeah.
Still, said another source, Messer won’t be truly happy until she has all three of her girls home with her, noting, “she’s trying to get custody back to what it was,” before the October hearing with Simms that stripped her of primary custody.
