Gigi Hadid attempts to quell the hate with statement about her heritage (PHOTO)

Gigi Hadid posted an Instagram photo with a beautiful caption and a preemptive warning against any haters.

We all know Gigi Hadid is a Southern California girl whose mom is Danish model and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Yolanda Foster. Thanks to her most recent Instagram post, where she and some friends are showing off henna tattoos, we also know she’s half-Palestinian.

Hadid captioned the photo, “Had the best night with some of my oldest friends last night. Feel so blessed to have a foundation of friendships that will bond us for the rest of our lives. The way we can all sit around and talk like the clock’s been turned back 10 years is the most beautiful and grounding feeling.”

She continued, “It’s so important to be with the families that raised you and the friends that were raised with yours. So much love in my heart this holiday season !!!!! (& before you go all ‘cultural appropriation’ in my comments, check out the last name. Hadid. Half Palestinian & proud of it).”

Her father is Mohamed Hadid, a Palestinian real estate developer who’s had cameos on RHOBH.

Before anyone gets worked up about the tattoos, they’re temporary. Henna was painted on their hands and arms.

I love the sentiment that Hadid is sharing in this photo. She’s celebrating old friends and family, which is especially poignant at this time of year.

I hate that she had to add a note to stop any potential trolls from blasting her. She should be able to post a photo like this without having to anticipate stupid comments about her being culturally insensitive. Clearly, she’s experienced the hate before and didn’t want to deal with it so close to Christmas.

At least we know another interesting fact about Hadid. I just wish she didn’t have to add it as a preemptive measure. May any haters find coal in their stockings.
