Miranda Lambert took to social media on Sunday to share her excitement over receiving a family heirloom, but there are multiple fans who do not share in her excitement. The reason? The gift is a fur coat.

Lambert showed herself proudly wearing the vintage fur, captioning it with, “‘I’m so fancy… You already know’ my Nonny gave me two of her fur coats! I definitely know where I got my love for DIAMONDS, FUR and WHISKEY! #familytradition #grandmastreasures #besthandmedownever.”

But the idea of wearing fur has created a heated debate among her fans and critics alike. While some people feel Lambert’s actions are “promoting murder,” others feel that fur is not cruel.

Ishipitotp weighed in on the picture, writing, “For this picture, it’s not so much the presence of the fur coat heirloom, moreso the fact that Miranda proudly displays herself wearing it.”

While keexyface_ informed Lambert that her actions have resulted in her losing a fan. She wrote, “Fur?.., promoting murder…? What a shame. ..no longer a fan sorry.”

Melsauce86 argued that the picture was irresponsible on Lambert’s part as it will promote fur. She wrote, “It’s sad that people will look up to her and copy her ‘style’ although i [sic] wouldn’t call fur stylish. It looks hideous on people because it’s meant to be on an ANIMAL. What the animals go through is horrific so, as an animal lover, this is sad to see. Use your celebrity status to promote animal rights!”

But not everyone feels this way, as krisnicole2224 explained. She wrote, “Just saying while I’m 100% against new furs being made, this coat was made along time ago from an animal that’s long dead. What exactly was she supposed to do? Throw it in the trash and waste the animal? Laws should be made against fur so that no new fur can be made, but I just can’t get with wasting the vintage ones.”

Instagram user maddysbooo thought that those who were against fur were overreacting, writing, “So if all of you people actually want animal abuse to stop entirely, you can’t preach about fur being the only cruel use of an animal because it’s not. Think about what you eat before you try to say how much of an animal lover you actually are.”

Lambert’s picture has turned into a heated debate and created some unwanted backlash for her.

It’s a controversial topic, and one that people feel very strongly about, and we’d love to know you opinion. Is Miranda Lambert’s backlash deserved or is everyone grossly overreacting? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
