Strickland, his friend Chase Morland and Strickland’s dog, Sam, used a boat to go on a duck hunting trip in Oklahoma starting on Saturday, Dec. 26. Morland even tweeted an oddly prophetic prediction as they set out on the trip.
“In case we don’t come back, @BackroadCRAIG and I are going right through Winter Storm Goliath to kill ducks in Oklahoma. #IntoTheStorm,” tweeted Morland.
After friends and family hadn’t heard from the men for 24 hours, a search party was launched. On Sunday, the boat the two men were using was found capsized. A search was launched for them early Monday, Dec. 28. Morland was found dead Monday morning and Strickland was declared missing.

Unfortunately, the weather is not on Strickland’s side.
“At this time the search efforts are going to be suspended for the day due to weather and fading lights. Search efforts will resume in the morning,” added the official.

The band tweeted a screenshot of Randy Strickland’s Facebook status, “The search has been called off for the night, bringing boat with sonar in morning. A friend gave me these words! We are trying to think of a scenario where he is still alive. Hoping against the odds. We can’t even stand to think about it. We are devastated. Only God & time can put us back together. Love all!”
There was one good piece of news: Strickland’s dog, Sam, was found and is safe. Here’s hoping for Strickland’s safe return!
