For Katy Perry and John Mayer, we might as well have gone back in time. The two exes spent New Year’s Eve together — never a good idea. Unless, of course, you’re back together.
Here’s what we know: The two were together with a group of friends at “Hollywood hotspot” The Nice Guy on Wednesday (coincidentally, the same restaurant where Kourtney Kardashian was recently spotted with Justin Bieber). As a source revealed to People, “They got a table together about 10 of them in total and went straight there after John’s show.” The spy didn’t seem to think there was anything romantic going on, “They were both there with a group of friends. Not together or anything flirty or love-interest type.”

But they did get in the same car and leave together. Two old friends sharing a ride back to the same ‘hood? Or star-crossed musician lovers reuniting for the holidays? You decide!

As People reminds us, the two were also seen in a will-they-won’t-they situation at Allison Williams’ wedding in September. According to a source, “John and Katy looked happy. They held hands and sat next to each other during the wedding ceremony.” John was also seen at Katy’s house during a party this summer.
