The Voicee’s Jordan Smith pulled out all the stops for his romantic proposal to longtime girlfriend Kristen Denny.
Smith, who won The Voice last season, kicked off 2016 with another win: that of Denny’s heart, when he asked her to marry him after a romantic night out in Boston.
Smith told People magazine that his plan could not have gone better. The couple first enjoyed a romantic dinner at The Top of the Hub restaurant in Boston, which has stunning views overlooking the city.
After dinner, “we went on a ride in a horse-drawn carriage through downtown that led to the Boston Public Garden,” Smith told People in an exclusive interview. “That’s where I knelt on one knee and she said yes!”

Smith explained that Denny, who he met through church and has been dating for three years, has been supporting his big dreams of being a professional singer from the beginning.
“I can remember a conversation she and I had three years ago when I turned up the radio as we were driving, and I said ‘I love this song. I would love to sing this on The Voice,'” Smith recalled right before the finale when he finally won. “She has been here since the beginning and she’s always expected something like this for me.”
One of his favorite attributes of hers? Her voice, of course! “I think she has a beautiful voice. She acts embarrassed and she won’t really sing for me much, but I love her voice and I love listening to her sing,” he said.
The Voice producer Mark Burnett couldn’t be more thrilled for Smith. “He’s just thrilled to have gone home as the winner and gotten engaged to his sweetheart,” Burnett told People. “He’s been really, really honored in his hometown. I’m thrilled!”
