Bristol Palin‘s second child out of wedlock made headlines as the young mother was slut-shamed for the pregnancy, and a mystery surrounded the father of her second child, daughter Sailor Grace.

But in a recent turn of events, Palin’s ex-fiancé, Dakota Meyer, has filed legal documents asking for joint legal and physical custody of the newborn.
A document obtained by Radar Online details Meyer’s request for custody. It reads, “Dakota L. Meyer hereby files his Complaint for Custody of Minor Child and requests that he be granted joint legal and shared physical custody of the minor child.”
Throughout Palin’s pregnancy, she never announced the father of her child, but Meyer publicly acknowledged the birth of his daughter a week ago (although it’s unclear how he obtained the image he shared on social media).

Bristol’s mother, Sarah Palin, has since weighed in on the custody request — and it’s evident she is not happy about it.
“For many months, we have been trying to reach out to Dakota Myers [sic] and he has wanted nothing to do with either Bristol’s pregnancy or the baby,” Palin said in a new interview with Entertainment Tonight.
“Paramount to the entire Palin family is the health and welfare of Sailor Grace,” she continued, blasting Meyer for allegedly trying to “save face.”
